Maxwell H. Sawyer is passionate about protecting the rights of his clients and relentlessly pursuing justice. His practice is focused on high-stakes civil trial work in the areas of personal injury, product liability, and medical malpractice.

In 2019, Mr. Sawyer was a part of a trial team that obtained a $10.6 million jury verdict against the second largest cigarette manufacturer in the United States.  Two months earlier he helped secure a $2.5 million verdict in another product liability case.


Mr. Sawyer attended law school at Nova Southeastern University, where he graduated summa cum laude as the salutatorian. He also obtained the “book award” for the highest grade in ten courses, and was selected by his peers to be the student commencement speaker at graduation.

After law school, Mr. Sawyer served as a Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Melanie G. May at the Fourth District Court of Appeal.  During his clerkship, he reviewed and analyzed appellate briefs, conducted extensive legal research, and drafted written memoranda on a variety of procedural and substantive issues in civil and criminal cases.

As a result of his high achievement on the Florida Bar Exam, Mr. Sawyer was selected and honored to speak on behalf of the newly admitted lawyers at the Fourth District Court of Appeal Induction Ceremony to the Florida Bar.


Max was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  He is a sixth-generation Floridian and a third-generation attorney.  He enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, scuba diving, and watching sporting events. He currently serves as the president of the “DiveBar,” a bar association comprised of legal professionals that promote education and awareness about coral reefs and the marine environment.
