Career

Joshua Novak represents clients in catastrophic injury and wrongful death matters involving product liability, motor vehicle crashes, premises liability, negligent security, and medical malpractice.

Mr. Novak began his career as an Assistant State Attorney where he secured convictions in cases involving attempted murder, kidnapping, and drug trafficking. He also served on the Police Accountability and Integrity Team, investigating, charging, and trying cases involving police brutality and misconduct.

Before joining Kelley | Uustal Trial Attorneys, Mr. Novak worked as a lead plaintiff’s attorney in Miami, representing clients injured by the negligence and wrongdoing of others. He secured a $3.1 million settlement for a condominium owner forced to abandon his home after the homeowners’ association failed to maintain and repair leaks that made the unit uninhabitable.

During law school, Mr. Novak clerked for a boutique firm specializing in catastrophic injury and medical malpractice, helping recover a $1.2 million trial verdict for a client who tripped on a dangerous sidewalk grate and shattered his elbow. He also interned at the New York County District Attorney’s Office, the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, and the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Background

Mr. Novak grew up in Lower Merion, just outside Philadelphia. He is a devoted Philadelphia sports fan and a Penn State alumnus. Mr. Novak is a self-proclaimed foodie, always seeking out new restaurants, and takes on cooking duties at family gatherings (he likes to think people recognize his abilities as an amateur chef). Outside of work, he spends his free time on the beach or kayaking with his wife.
