The Kelley | Uustal law firm is pleased to announce that Fan Li has been promoted to partner.
“Fan has worked tirelessly to become a top lawyer and an exceptional leader at our firm,” said founding partner John Uustal.
Li joined Kelley | Uustal in 2021. He previously worked for five years as an assistant public defender in Miami-Dade, where he tried more than 60 jury and bench trials ranging from misdemeanors to attempted murder. In addition, he spearheaded several impact litigation projects, including a constitutional challenge of the police’s use of marijuana odor as the sole basis for the arrest and search of Floridians.
Since entering civil practice, Li, a graduate of Harvard Law School, won an issue of first impression in the Nevada Supreme Court against the tobacco industry, and was a member of the trial team that secured an $82.6 million verdict for international rap star Flo Rida. He is currently litigating against several Fortune 500 companies in 5 states, and recently commenced a federal declaratory judgment action on a novel issue of Florida law.
Passionate about racial and criminal justice, Li serves on the Florida Bar’s Criminal Procedure Rules Committee and continues to work on pro bono projects close to his heart.
