Kelley | Uustal Files State Farm Class Action Lawsuit Over Denied Luxury Car Repairs

State Farm, one of the nation’s largest auto insurance providers, is facing a class action lawsuit for failing to cover the costs of high-end luxury vehicle repairs. The case is being led by Kelley| Uustal partner Cristina Pierson and Daren Stabinksi.

Assaf Sasson, a South Florida driver with full State Farm coverage, assumed he would only pay a $500 deductible when his Porsche Taycan was severely damaged. After taking his car to a Porsche-certified facility, he learned State Farm refused to cover the costs.

“They want them to take the car to a run-of-the-mill collision shop or another manufacturer shop that doesn’t have the training or the know-how and the certifications to repair that vehicle properly,” Pierson explained in a recent interview. Stabinksi added that technologically advanced cars like the Taycan are far too complex to be repaired at a standard collision shop.

The lawsuit claims State Farm consistently rejects repair estimates exceeding $4,700, even though high-end repairs often cost double that amount. Sasson ultimately paid $8,360.87 out of pocket to ensure his car was repaired correctly at the Porsche-certified facility.

Sasson’s attorneys filed a class action lawsuit against State Farm after discovering that this issue was affecting numerous policyholders.

“We have spoken to dozens of State Farm insured (people) in Florida, Illinois, Ohio, Georgia,” said Pierson. “We have gotten so many calls, and it’s all the same story.”

Pierson said that they filed both Florida and Georgia class action lawsuits to hold State Farm accountable to the terms of its policies.
