Trial attorney Peter Spillis has been named managing partner of the Kelley|Uustal law firm. The firm specializes in catastrophic injury and wrongful death.
Spillis joined the firm as a partner in 2014. He has more than 25 years of experience in high-profile civil trial work. He serves as head of the firm’s medical malpractice division, and also handles complex commercial and products cases. Earlier in his career, Spillis served as a managing partner at the Miami office of a national law firm.
“Peter is an exceptional leader, highly respected by our teams and our clients,” said founding partner John Uustal. “And he is amazing in the courtroom. We always want a true trial lawyer managing the firm.”
“I’m honored,” said Spillis. “We have a remarkable team, we’re expanding quickly, and I want to supercharge that growth.”
Spillis is a past President of the Miami chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an invitation-only national organization dedicated to the promotion of litigator professionalism and the preservation of the Seventh Amendment right to a trial by jury. Spillis is consistently recognized in the annual Best Lawyers in America and Florida Legal Elite rankings. He is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest rating an attorney can earn in the peer-review process.
A Miami native, Spillis earned his law degree from the University of Miami.
