Career

Matt focuses on complex business litigation, class actions, catastrophic personal injury, and wrongful death matters in federal and state courts throughout the country. Matt has represented individuals and corporations in product liability, negligence, consumer fraud, RICO, breach of contract, and deceptive/unfair trade practice claims.  He is also a former federal prosecutor with extensive experience leading large-scale investigations.

 

Matt has tried numerous cases before juries and courts in state and federal courts across the country. Most recently, Matt secured an $82.6 million verdict on behalf of hip hop superstar Flo Rida in a trial against the publicly traded beverage company Celsius. Matt is currently litigating a nationwide RICO class action against the largest owner of shopping malls in the United States, as well as product liability and wrongful death cases against multiple Fortune 500 companies.

 

Prior to joining Kelley Uustal, Matt served as the Deputy Chief of the Violent Crimes and Gangs section for the United States Attorney’s Office in Baltimore, Maryland. As an Assistant United States Attorney, Matt led successful investigations of violent criminal enterprises and drug cartels. During his career, Matt prosecuted numerous racketeering, murder, kidnapping, sex trafficking, tax fraud, money laundering, and narcotics offenses.

 

Matt earned his J.D. from UCLA School of Law, where he won both the moot court and trial advocacy tournaments. Matt is licensed to practice in Florida and New York. He is a member of the Florida Justice Association, Miami-Dade Trial Lawyers Association, and Miami-Dade Bar Association.
